Description
The M8.1 suits a workstation where a substantial monitor needs more flexible positioning than its original stand provides. Moving the screen closer for detailed work or farther away for a broad view becomes part of the everyday setup, while the mounting base occupies a smaller part of the desktop than many monitor stands.
Choose it by the display’s stand-free weight and mounting geometry. Deep or curved screens can place their load farther from the mounting plate, so screen width and shape matter alongside the scale reading. This silver configuration is a single-monitor arm; optional dual-monitor accessories are not included.
Features
- 6–28 lb single-screen range: covers the legacy M8.1’s stated monitor load.
- Counterbalance adjustment: lets the mechanism be set for the installed display.
- Two-piece clamp mount: secures the base at a suitable desk edge.
- Quick-connect interface: helps connect the monitor mounting assembly during installation.
- Smart Stop and cable routing: help manage arm travel and cable placement at a crowded workstation.

Give the arm room to move
A folded arm still needs clearance. Before installing the clamp, picture the monitor in its closest, farthest and side-facing positions. Check the wall behind the desk, adjacent screens and the route of power and video cables.
| Desk against a wall | Allow space for the links when the monitor is pushed back. |
|---|---|
| Large curved display | Verify geometry and mounting compatibility in addition to weight. |
| Frequent repositioning | Adjust tension correctly, then test movement with cables connected. |

Common questions
Is the M8.1 rated like the newer M8 Pro?
No. The M8.1’s published legacy single-monitor range is 6–28 lb. Higher figures on current Pro-model pages describe a different generation.
Can it hold two monitors as supplied?
This configuration is for one display. A compatible dual crossbar is a separate configuration with its own per-screen limits.
What monitor weight should I check?
Use the monitor’s weight without its original stand, including any adapter or accessory carried by the arm. Both the minimum and maximum load matter.
Will every ultrawide monitor fit?
No. Verify VESA mounting, weight, screen geometry and the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance. Diagonal size alone does not establish suitability.
