Description
The Apollo DFT9800 brings task-chair support to a higher work surface. Its elevated seat and footring are designed for drafting stations, counters and other work areas where a standard office chair may sit too low. The back is mesh, while the seat is a contoured fabric-covered cushion with a rounded front edge.
Seat-height adjustment establishes your position relative to the worktop. The footring supports your feet when the floor is out of reach, and the arms adjust in height and width. A ratchet adjustment moves the backrest vertically, helping you position its support after setting the seat.
Features
- Drafting-height cylinder: raises the seat for taller work surfaces.
- Adjustable footring: provides a place for your feet at an elevated sitting position.
- Padded waterfall seat: uses a rounded front edge beneath the thighs.
- Mesh back: allows airflow through the backrest.
- Adjustable arms: change height and width to suit forearm positioning.
- Ratchet back height: provides 2.8 inches of vertical adjustment in the manufacturer’s specification.

Dimensions are manufacturer reference measurements. If your counter has tight clearance, confirm the supplied cylinder and floor-contact configuration before ordering.
Match the stool to the worktop
Measure the working surface and the clear space beneath it before choosing a drafting stool. The seat needs to place your forearms at a useful working height while leaving room for your thighs. At an elevated setting, position the footring to support both feet instead of letting your legs hang.
| Fixed high counter | Check that the stool reaches the required sitting height and fits below any apron or drawer. |
|---|---|
| Height-adjustable desk | Compare the desk’s seated setting with this stool’s minimum seat height; a tall stool may not suit the lowest position. |
| Detailed drafting work | Bring work toward you so you can use the backrest between forward-focused tasks. |
| Shared workstation | Reset seat height, footring and arm support for each user; body height alone does not determine the right setup. |
Common questions
Will it work at a normal low desk?
Its published minimum seat height is 23.2 inches, which is higher than many standard task chairs. Check knee clearance and keyboard height; lowering the stool may still leave you too high for a conventional desk.
Is the seat mesh?
No. The seat is padded and fabric-covered. The backrest is mesh, so this model combines a cushioned seat with an open back.
Does it have the same recline controls as every Apollo chair?
No. Apollo is a family of chairs with different mechanisms. This DFT9800 listing specifies height, back-height and arm adjustments; do not assume the synchro-tilt or multi-function controls of another Apollo model.
Does the footring replace the need to check seat height?
No. Set the seat for the work surface first, then position the footring for support. The ring does not correct insufficient thigh clearance under a counter or a keyboard positioned too high.
