Choose it for a compact mixed-use office
Allow space above the printer for the scanner lid and around it for paper handling. Run a short test print after setup, and use the printer’s normal maintenance process if output quality changes. App estimates of remaining pages are planning aids, not guaranteed cartridge yields.

Common questions
Is it an ink-tank printer?
No. It takes individual LC401 or LC401XL ink cartridges. Refillable-tank features from other Brother models do not apply.
Does the feeder scan both sides automatically?
No. It prints two-sided pages automatically on supported media, but the ADF scans one side at a time.
Can I use USB rather than Wi-Fi?
Yes. USB provides a direct computer connection, and Ethernet provides wired networking. A USB cable is not included in Brother’s standard box contents.
Does NFC work with every phone?
No. NFC printing requires a compatible device and workflow. For other phones, check the supported mobile app, AirPrint or Wi-Fi printing options.
