Everyday printing with automatic duplex: HP ENVY 5014

The ENVY 5014 combines print, scan and copy in a cartridge-based inkjet. Automatic duplex printing is useful for compatible two-sided documents, but scanning a stack means placing originals on the flatbed individually. HP specifies one black and one tri-color cartridge. Check replacement-cartridge compatibility and cost for your region before choosing.

Multi-page paperwork: Brother MFC-L3770CDW

The Brother is the workflow-focused choice within this group when a stack of two-sided originals is routine. Its ADF scans both sides in one pass, and it includes Ethernet as well as wireless and USB connectivity. Toner and drums are separate consumables. Brother lists this model as discontinued, so check the offered condition, included supplies and current software support.

Refillable color printing: Epson EcoTank ET-2720

The ET-2720 uses bottles to refill its built-in ink tanks and includes a flatbed for scanning and copying. Its tradeoff is manual paper turning for two-sided printing and no ADF. It is worth comparing when you prefer a tank system and can work with those limits; low ink cost alone does not replace the workflow features you need.

Count the jobs: consider how often you print color, scan a stack or need two-sided originals digitized.

Which one automatically scans both sides?

Of these three models, the Brother MFC-L3770CDW has single-pass duplex scanning through its ADF. The HP ENVY 5014 and Epson ET-2720 use flatbeds without automatic document feeders.

Does the Epson ET-2720 automatically print double-sided?

No. Epson’s Windows instructions describe manual duplex: print one side, turn the paper over and reload it as directed. Do not confuse it with EcoTank models that include an automatic duplex unit.
