Description
The SV600 offers a practical route for digitizing material that cannot travel through a document feeder. Place an open book, magazine or document on the scanning area beneath the head, then capture it from above. You can preserve the binding and avoid repeatedly closing a flatbed lid over uneven pages.
It is especially useful for mixed reference collections: an open spread one moment, several separate cards or clippings the next. The software assists with cropping and curved-page correction, but page positioning and final review still matter. It is a manually operated book workflow, not a machine that turns pages for you.

Set up a repeatable book-scanning workflow
Keep the book aligned within the scan area and use a consistent page-holding method. Capture a few representative spreads first, including pages close to the binding, and inspect the correction before processing a whole volume.
For searchable archives, verify OCR on names, columns and small print rather than assuming every recognized character is correct. Keep an image-based master alongside an editable text export when the visual appearance of the original matters.

Common questions
Does it turn book pages automatically?
No. You turn each page. Page-turn detection recognizes the action and can start the following capture.
Is the output resolution the same as optical resolution?
No. Output settings and optical capture specifications are different. The SV600 uses a lens-based overhead system, so its optical resolution varies across the scanning area; a higher output setting does not create additional optical detail.
Can I feed a stack of pages into it?
No. It has an overhead capture area rather than an automatic document feeder. A sheet-fed duplex scanner is a better fit for large piles of loose pages.
Does the scanner need a computer?
Yes. It uses USB and ScanSnap software. Check the manufacturer’s current support information for your specific Windows or macOS release.
