Description
The Algo 8188 puts network audio overhead in offices, classrooms, reception areas and similar indoor spaces. Connect it to a suitable Ethernet network and configure it for a compatible SIP system or multicast audio. Its built-in amplifier removes the need for a separate traditional paging amplifier.
Wideband G.722 support helps speech retain clarity, while local audio files provide notification sounds. The integrated microphone can support two-way communication and automatic volume compensation as background noise changes. Those features depend on the chosen configuration and connected system.

Plan the system before installation
Algo's current instructions recommend its appropriate ceiling support accessories. Follow the mounting template and installation guide, and keep the network connection accessible for service. A ceiling speaker location should be chosen for useful coverage rather than simply the nearest cable outlet.

Know which accessories your design needs
The standard 8188 is a network endpoint, not an analog 70 V speaker. It does not provide the passive-satellite arrangement offered by the separate 8198 model. If your project uses InformaCast, confirm the correct licensed configuration; standard 8188 identification alone does not establish that license.

Common questions
Can I connect it to an existing analog paging amplifier?
It is designed as a powered network endpoint using SIP or multicast, not as a passive analog speaker. An existing analog system needs a suitable integration design.
Does it have a wall-plug power input?
The specified power source is IEEE 802.3af PoE. Plan a compatible powered network port or injector.
Can it play background music?
Yes, it can reproduce supported network audio. The music source, permissions and multicast configuration must be provided separately.
Does every multicast receiver need its own phone extension?
A receiver can be configured for multicast audio without using a separate SIP registration for that function. The overall paging design determines which endpoints need registration.
