Description
This Humanscale Freedom pairs a pale Glacier leather finish with the distinctive polished aluminum frame. Designed by Niels Diffrient, Freedom uses your weight to balance the recline, reducing the need to change tension settings as you lean back. The backrest pivots, and the headrest moves with the recline.
The finish is Ticino leather, described by Humanscale as semi-aniline, corrected top-grain leather. It is a different upholstery from fabric or mesh Freedom versions. This listing specifies standard height-adjustable Duron arms; it should not be confused with the optional advanced arm package or a gel-seat configuration.

Set the chair before evaluating the recline
Adjust seat height and depth first, then set the backrest height and headrest position. Bring the arms to a level that supports your forearms without lifting the shoulders. A weight-sensitive mechanism still depends on these initial fit settings.
A firsthand Work Design review found the headrest useful during reclined work and noted a desire for adjustable lumbar firmness. Freedom’s height-adjustable back does not have a separate lumbar-depth dial.
Care for the Glacier leather
Dust gently and wipe spills promptly with a soft cloth. Use the manufacturer’s leather-specific cleaning instructions; fabric cleaners, solvents and abrasive pads are unsuitable substitutes. Keep the pale leather away from avoidable dye transfer and prolonged direct sunlight.
