- Adjustable work stool for raised surfaces
Description
This Leap is the taller stool configuration for a counter, elevated workstation or suitable sit-stand desk. It retains the upholstered seat and flexible LiveBack backrest of the task-chair family, while a longer cylinder and adjustable footring accommodate a higher working position.
The seat can be tuned for depth, and the arms adjust in height, width, depth and pivot. Separate lower-back firmness and upper-back tension controls allow more deliberate setup than a simple drafting stool. Choose it by matching the seat range to your actual work surface and checking that your feet have comfortable support.
Features
- Stool-height cylinder: provides a published 22–30 inch seat-height range.
- Adjustable footring: offers a place for your feet when they cannot reach the floor.
- LiveBack support: lets the backrest change shape as you move.
- Four-way arm adjustment: positions the pads for different users and work surfaces.
- Sliding seat: provides 3 inches of depth adjustment.
- Separate back controls: combine adjustable lumbar height, lower-back firmness, recline tension and a five-position back stop.

Match the stool to your work surface
A sit-stand desk's maximum height does not determine the right stool. Consider the height at which you intend to sit, the space beneath the desktop and your ability to get on and off comfortably. The footring supports the seated position; it is not a step for climbing onto the stool.
| Raised desk or counter | Compare the working height with the stool's full 22–30 in range. |
|---|---|
| Conventional desk | The 22 in minimum can be too high; measure before choosing a stool. |
| Foot support | Check the footring position after setting the seat for the work surface. |
| Arm clearance | Allow for the underside of the counter and any support apron. |
| Flooring | Hard casters generally suit carpet; confirm a suitable wheel specification for hard flooring. |
Leap chair and stool height comparison
Both forms offer seat-depth and back-support adjustments. The stool's higher minimum is the key difference when deciding whether it will fit your desk. The chair values above are a reference for the standard cylinder, not a promise about every Leap chair variant.

Common questions
Will it lower to normal task-chair height?
Its published minimum is 22 inches. Check your intended desk height; a standard task chair starts lower.
Does it recline?
Yes. Leap retains adjustable back tension and a five-position back stop in the stool configuration.
Is the footring adjustable?
Yes. Reposition it after setting the seat height so your feet are supported in the working position.
Are the arms fixed?
No. This configuration has four-way arms that adjust in height, width, depth and pivot.
