OSHA's monitor guidance places the top of the display at or below eye level and suggests a comfortable viewing distance around 20–40 inches. Measure from your eyes, not the desk edge. A shallow desk can sometimes work with a suitable screen position; a large monitor stand can make the same desk feel crowded.
